CG Bank Announces Retirement of Kathy Samples CEO

CG Bank today announced the retirement of Kathy Samples after 46 years of service. Samples has served on the bank’s executive management team since 1998 when she was named Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. Mrs. Samples will remain in service to the Bank as Chair of the Board of Directors and Community and Business Liaison. Michael Wilson, who has served as President since 2008, will serve as CEO /President of the company going forward.
Samples was the first female CEO and Chairman of the Board of CG Bank and has served in her role since 2008. Prior to that position, she served six years as President/COO where she managed the banks operations and management processes. Before that, Samples held numerous roles at the bank including teller, bookkeeper, Director of Human Resources and Loan Officer. She also served as Executive Vice President from 1998 to 2002.
During her tenure she graduated the Graduate School of Banking at LSU and served on various boards including The Bankers Bank of Kentucky, Bluegrass Bankers, Marcum and Wallace Mercy Health Hospital (Chair), Estill Co Chamber of Commerce, Estill Development Alliance, Hospice Care Plus and Irvine-Ravenna Kiwanis Club.
Kathy and CG Bank was co-recipients with Monroe Bank & Trust of the ICBA’s 2010 National Community Bank Service Award for financial literacy for their partnership with the Estill Co High School to open an on-campus branch, Engineer Guaranty Bank, staffed by students enrolled in a banking and personal finance course offered by the school.
Kathy is a Kentucky Colonel and was the first recipient of the Community Mountain Mover recognized by the Estill Co. School System for her development of positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of the students of Estill County.
